Are you ready to make some important changes?
Beginning (and committing to) a healthier lifestyle involving more physical activity and cleaner eating can be challenging, especially if we’ve grown accustomed to the same way of living for longer than we can remember.
But it doesn’t have to be so difficult to get into the healthy groove! Our nutrition consultants want to share five ways you can jumpstart a healthier way of life:
1. Ensure you’re in the right mindset.
It’s important to first get into the right motivated state of mind – because at the end of the day, if you’re not motivated enough to change your lifestyle or achieve your goals, you aren’t going to have enough incentive to stay on the right path consistently. A great way to get into the right mindset is to write down all of the ways your life is going to change for the better by adapting a healthier way of living. Once you see all of those great reasons in front of you, the idea can become very exciting!
2. Go on a venture to find the perfect workout gear.
A great way to give you that extra push to start those workouts yesterday, and NOT three weeks from now, is to scope the malls or online stores for fun new workout gear! It makes a huge difference if you’re feeling confident in what you’re sporting on your nature run or at the gym.
3. Take a productive trip to the grocery store.
A fridge full of local, healthy and fresh produce (and void of processed crap and sweets) will set the nutritional stage for you on your journey to a healthier lifestyle. Choose a colourful variety of fruits and veggies to stock your fridge with. This is a very important step that will ensure you get into the habit of incorporating these healthy foods into each meal you eat. Because if there’s nothing unhealthy to reach for in the kitchen, you won’t be reaching for anything unhealthy.
4. Discover exercises or activities you enjoy.
Finding certain exercises, physical activities and/or sports that you genuinely enjoy doing is conducive to you staying on track – because let’s face it, it’s hard to stay true to things that feel more like chores than anything. Have fun; experiment with your activities! Try a Zumba or dance class. Invite a friend to a game of basketball at the local community court. Turn to YouTube for some Pilates inspiration. Join a baseball league! The possibilities are endless… and once you find something(s) you truly love, you’ll be so much more inclined to commit to it.
5. Get the right support you need.
